With Visual Studio remote debugging with gdb (native) on Linux, how to use GDB pretty printers?

Question

While remote debugging on a Linux host using Visual Studio 2019, I'd like to use the GDB pretty printers for the libstdc++ library that are installed on the remote machine ~/.gdbinit as described here.

Debugging locally, gdb finds the pretty printers allright, but remote debugging with Visual Studio does not provide the pretty printers (and the UX is pretty awful for containers and alike).

Is there a way to use GDB pretty printers with Visual Studio 2019?

Edit: I found this article that suggests that there is some natvis visualizers for libstdc++ available but it's not working for my CMake project.
